Support the Morton CUSD 709 Orchestra Fund

This Fund was started in April of 2004 by an anonymous donor. The purpose of the fund is to provide annual grants to the Morton Orchestra Parents organization to help purchase needed equipment to make the Morton Orchestra program better and better every year.

An anonymous donor made a lasting impact on the Morton High School Orchestra program in 2004 by donating money and creating the Morton District 709 Orchestra Fund. "Music is good for kids," this donor says. "I wanted to ensure that this program would continue and I wanted people to know that this is an excellent program."

Having children that played in the orchestra, this donor had a front row seat to the impact of music education. Grants have been used to purchase things like: a new violin, garment bags, orchestral composing software, and electronic violin, viola, and cello.

The donor wanted to allow other students to have the same positive experience. "I want that for other kids," the donor said. New funds are being established all the time at the Morton Community Foundation and each donor has a special passion for their fund. The interest from each fund becomes the grant amount available. The principal in the fund is never spent. These funds allow programs like the MHS orchestra to receive grants each year, forever. Eventually, the total amount of grants awarded will exceed the original donation. This anonymous donor would like to challenge anyone that has participated in the Morton High School orchestra program to consider donating to this fund so it can continue to grow and support young musicians. It's a noteworthy goal.
